La Mission Française des fouilles de Tanis travaille sur le site depuis 1928. Un projet très ambitieux est à l'étude, puisqu’il ne s’agit pas uniquement de travaux d’aménagement et de restauration des monuments mais plutôt de reconstruire cette ville antique de Tanis. Ainsi, le temple d’Amon doit être reconstitué afin de retrouver son état original avec ses statues colossales, ses obélisques géants et ses murs gigantesques.

The 'Mission Française des fouilles de Tanis' has been working on the site since 1928. Now there is a very ambitious project : to rebuild the city, and specifically the Amun temple, with its huge walls and pylons, colossal statues and obelisks. The goal is to attract as many tourists as possible to decrease the pressure on the monuments of Upper Egypt.

La présente bibliographie sur l'Egypte lagide n'est pas exhaustive. Celle-ci ne recense que des monographies ainsi que des essais provenant d'actes de colloques, de mélanges et d'ouvrages collectifs, et non les articles issus de la masse des périodiques. Par ailleurs, seuls les ouvrages présents à l’Université Lille 3 ont été pris en compte. Néanmoins, par la richesse du fonds du Service Commun de la Documentation de Lille 3, cette bibliographie, riche de plus de 800 références, classées selon des thématiques, devrait intéresser quiconque étudie l'Egypte, de la mort d'Alexandre le Grand à celle de Cléopâtre VII.

Ce site Australien a été réalisé par un travailleur du bois qui s'est intéressé aux techniques utilisées en Égypte Ancienne. Il en résulte une série de cinq articles (voir ci dessous) bien faits, courts et intéressants. On y découvre ainsi que la plupart des techniques encore en usage de nos jours existaient déjà à l'époque.

The woodworkers of Ancient Egypt were already highly accomplished. They had access to a wide range of woods - a few local, but mostly imported - and had developed a range of tools that allowed them to perform most of the operations carried out in modern workshops. Virtually all of the now familiar jointing methods were known and hide glue was in common use.

Le site du Giza Plateau Mapping project a été entièrement refait, apparemment avec pas mal de $. Un beau site, informatif.

Toutankhamon buvait du vin rouge. Ceci était pressenti par l'analyse des décors des tombes (il en existe de nombreux exemples sur le site) qui montre des grappes violacées. La confirmation définitive est venue de l'étude de produits de grattage de deux amphores de la tombe qui ont révélé une substance chimique spécifique, l'acide syringique. Quant au goût qu'il avait...on n'en sait trop rien. Mais sans dioxyde de soufre, la conservation devait être très mauvaise sous un climat aussi chaud, et le vin était certainement oxydé au moment où il était bu.

King Tutankhamun was a red wine drinker, according to scientists who have been studying residue left in wine pitchers in the ancient pharaoh's tomb. A team of Spanish scientists developed a new technique able to pinpoint an acid left by compounds in red wine. Archaeologists had thought for some time that the wine drunk by ancient Egyptians may have been red - tomb paintings showing grapes being pressed into wine were illustrated with red and purple grapes. Syringic acid was found in scrapings taken from two jars in Tut's tomb. It is released by the breakdown of the compound malvidin, found in red wine. The scientists were also able to use the tool on residues left in other jars to establish that the drink Shedeh, the most precious drink in ancient Egypt, was made from grapes, rather than pomegranates, as previously thought.
