Les "Musées sous marins" représentent une part de plus en plus importante des ressources touristiques.Plusieurs sites se trouvent à Alexandrie mais aussi sur la côte Sud du Sinaï, à Damiette, à Ras el Bar. Les sites les plus visités sont ceux d'Alexandrie: le fort de Qaitbey, le port Est, Al Silsela, Al Shatbi, Al Ebrahimia, Al Ma'amura, la baie d'Abu Qir, avec l'îlot de Nelson.

There are numerous sunken sites in Egypt. To mention but a few, as many as nine sites in Alexandria, three in Southern Sinai, one in Ras-al-Bar, one in Damietta and four in Southern Sinai. Still, many more undiscovered sites have not been salvaged yet. Most of these monuments are related to Mediterranean ports that date back to the Roman Age. Diving tourism is now a SCA's most flourishing financial resource.

Une tombe importante de la XXVIème dynastie Saïte (Psammétique II) va être démontée et préservée par le SCA égyptien. La tombe, décrite comme un chef d'oeuvre, avec de beaux reliefs colorés, est située à 60m sous terre, et inondée sur un mètre de hauteur. Elle va être entièrement démontée et remontée en surface, à 6 m du sol. Elle sera ainsi préservée.

The project involves the dismantling and re-erection above ground of an important tomb found by a mission from the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) while checking an area in Ain Shams. The tomb which belongs to Banehsi, the Saïte ruler of Lower Egypt during the reign of 26th Dynasty King Psmatek II (595 -589 4 BC), is considered to be an architectural masterpiece. The tomb found 60 meters below the ground was suffering from the leakage of water inside its open court, hall and burial chamber. The subterranean water reached one meter high inside the tomb.The water inside the tomb has been pumped out, the blocks dismantled, restored and kept in storage before reconstruction on the new site 6 meters above ground level.
