The Imhotep Museum is just one of many new ones being built on archaeological sites as part of the site management programme. For example, near the temple of Kom Ombo, we are now building a site museum for crocodiles, representing the god Sobek. We also plan to build a desert museum in Dakhla and a museum in Bahariya Oasis to showcase the golden mummies
Des pièces présentées lors d'une exposition ont été ensuite perdues. Zahi Hawass avait soutenu qu'il "ne pouvait en aucun cas s'agir d'un vol", mais que les pièces avaient été égarées dans les entrailles du Musée du Caire.

L'historien des religions a reçu ce prix pour l'approche originale de ses recherches, lesquelles replacent l'Ancien Testament dans le contexte historique et culturel où il est né, révolutionnant à plus d'un titre son interprétation.L'oeuvre du professeur fribourgeois revêt une "profonde signification" pour comprendre les racines de l'héritage commun aux juifs, chrétiens et musulmans, souligne le communiqué. Ses recherches ont en effet montré le lien étroit qui unit les trois grandes religions monothéistes du Moyen-Orient au polythéisme qui les a précédées.
Signalons que dans le numéro 167 (septembre-octobre 2005) de la revue "Le Monde de la Bible", il y a un intéressant entretien avec l'historien.
This famous prize was awarded to this historian of religions, for his new approach to the origins of the Old Testament, including the influence that Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia had on it.
