Extraordinaire découverte que celle que viennent de faire des archéologues allemands en Abydos, dans la tombe du roi Den, 1ère Dynastie.
Il s'agit de deux pots d'une quarantaine de centimètres enfouis à 80 cms sous terre, et qui contiennent un véritable trésor: 700g d'or (qui pourrait provenir d'un masque funéraire), 6,5 Kgs de lapis-lazuli finement poli (provenant au moins partiellement d'une mosaïque), du bois, des restes d'étoffes. Il y avait également une statuette en bronze représentant Thot, et une en argent d'Osiris.

The German Institute for Oriental Studies has discovered in the town of Abydos two pots each 40-cm-long, in the tomb of the 1st Dynasty Pharaoh Den, who ruled for 50 years sometime between 3200 to 3050 BC. The team found a bronze bronze statue of Thot and a silver one of Osiris, 700g of gold chips and 6,5kgs of lapis-lazuli.

Selon Birgit Shoer qui revient d'Égypte et qui a communiqué la nouvelle sur EEF, il est maintenant interdit de photographier dans AUCUN mastaba et AUCUNE pyramide sur tout le site de Saqqara, et dans toutes les tombes thèbaines!!!
C'est un scandale, et une privation de liberté pour des voyageurs qui ont fait des milliers de kilomètres pour visiter l'Égypte. Et encore plus pour ceux qui revisitent le pays.
Une telle politique ne peut que décourager les gens d'aller ou surtout de retourner en Égypte.

This policy is a shame for people coming from far away and will certainly discourage people to go, and especially to go back to Egypt .

La momie de Ramses I (ou supposé tel), fondateur de la XIXéme Dynastie, va être rendue à l'Égypte.
Il s'agit bien sûr d'un geste très important du musée d'Atlanta, qui rendra d'ailleurs par la même occasion quatre fragments de la tombe du fils et successeur de Ramses I, Sethy I.
C'est la grande égyptolmogue allemande Arne Eggebrecht qui, en visitant le Niagara Falls Museum dans les années 80 a soulevé l'hypothèse que la momie qui y était présentée était royale. L'histoire de cette momie et de ses pérégrinations est racontée en détail dans l'article. Quand on se rappelle l'Au-delà auquel les Égyptiens rêvaient, on reste songeur...Mais après tout, son nom est prononcé, sa mémoire n'est pas oubliée, sa momie est intacte, alors...

A 3,000-year-old mummy that many scholars believe is ancient Egypt's King Ramses I is the star attraction of an exhibit at the Michael C. Carlos Museum in Atlanta that will run from April 26 to September 14. The royal mummy will make its final journey home this fall, part of a gift from the people of Atlanta to the people of Egypt. Tuesday, museum officials presented Zahi Hawass, general director of Egypt's Supreme Council on Antiquities, with four fragments of painted limestone relief that are part of the tomb of Seti I, son and successor of Ramses I.

Let's get back to the importance of preserving good climate inside the tombs in Luxor, which was urged by a UNESCO expert, for the sake of protecting the tombs. The founder of the project is a German engineer, who is fond of Egypt and its civilization. So what would be the way to deal with that person, who is keen to protect Egypt's treasures?! Illegal digs in the region of Marghagha have put to light two intact mummies of queens dating back to the XXVIth and XXXth dynasties. The diggers have been caught when they tried to sold them to a police officer of the Antiquity service.
