TOMBS OF THE HIGH OFFICIALS AT TELL EL-AMARNA

The tombs of notables at Tell el-Amarna have a number of similarities in their architecture and in their decorative programmes.
We have summarized these in the review article "The tombs of the Nobles at Tell el-Amarna".
Its prior reading is strongly recommended, because the concepts detailed in it are not repeated for each grave.

AY
Having held important responsibilities under the reigns of Akhenaten, Neferneferuaten and Tutankhamun before becoming king in his turn, Ay is an excellent witness and participant at the time of the Aten revolution and the religious restoration. His tomb in Amarna is the only place where the Great Hymn to the Aten can be found.
AHMES
Ahmes was "Steward of the estate of Akhenaten" (among others). The tomb is small, cruciform, and ends with a statue niche. The decorated part is limited, but it features beautiful sketches and typical Amarna decorative themes.
MERYRE

Meryre is the only known High Priest of the Aten cult in Amarna. Although damaged, his tomb remains one of the most beautiful and one of the most interesting of the north group.
