MASTABAS OF THE OLD KINGDOM AT GIZA

IASEN AND PENMERU
The tomb of Iasen combines a classic surface mastaba and a chapel carved into the rock plateauThe decoration, which is without special originality, has however the great merit of being well-preserved. Iasen's mastaba is linked architecturally to the mastaba of Penmeru.

QUEEN MERESANKH III
This daughter of Kawab and Hetespheres II, died at about the age of 50.
Mastaba tomb (G7530-40) has a rock cut chapel (G7530sub) which consists of three decorated chambers.
QAR (MERYRENEFER)
The mastaba of Qar is atypical with a courtyard open to the sky and a rock hewn part. It features scenes of funerals, which were made only exceptionaly in the Old Kingdom. It is inseparable from the mastaba of Idu, its neighbour and probably his son.
